About Foromex

Why Foromex exists

Foromex was founded in 2024 with a clear purpose: to help struggling traders move away from emotional and revenge trading, and towards steadier, slower, algorithm-based trading. Many traders do not lose because they lack a strategy. They lose because fear, greed and the urge to win a loss back override it. An automated system follows its rules every time, whatever the last trade did.

Since then we have built a range of tools for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 that support traders in their day-to-day activity. Our flagship product is the Duke Engine, an automated trading engine for XAUUSD (gold), which was released to the public in late 2025.

Our team is made up of traders and algorithm developers who have worked exclusively on the XAU/USD pair for more than 20 years. That narrow focus is deliberate. We would rather understand one market deeply than trade many of them thinly.

Our view

Expert perspective on algorithm development and indicators

After more than two decades working on gold, these are the principles our developers apply when they build and judge automated systems.

Indicators describe the past

Moving averages, RSI, MACD and similar tools are calculated from price that has already happened. They are useful for describing conditions such as trend, momentum and volatility, but none of them predicts what comes next. Treat them as inputs to a decision, never as a forecast.

Context beats a single signal

One indicator crossing a line is weak evidence. Better systems combine several kinds of information, such as the higher-timeframe trend, current volatility and time of day, and only act when they agree. Fewer, better-confirmed trades usually serve a trader better than constant activity.

Risk management matters more than entries

Two systems with the same entry rules can have very different outcomes depending on position sizing, stop logic and how exposure is limited. How a strategy behaves when it is wrong is more important than how it behaves when it is right.

Be wary of a perfect backtest

It is easy to tune a system until it fits past data, which is called over-fitting, and then watch it fail live. Test on data the system was not tuned on, check across different market conditions, use high-quality tick data, and allow for spread, slippage and execution delays.

Win rate is not edge

A high win rate can hide a few large losses. Judge a system by profit factor, drawdown, margin level and the size of its worst periods together. Any single headline number can mislead.

Markets change, so monitor

Gold behaves differently in quiet and volatile regimes. An automated system still needs oversight: reviewing performance regularly, understanding why results change, and being willing to adjust or pause it when conditions no longer suit its design.

This is general educational commentary from Foromex, not investment advice or a recommendation. No algorithm, indicator or backtest can guarantee future results, and trading leveraged products such as gold CFDs can lose you some or all of your capital.

Duke in practice

Built for consistency, not excitement

Duke is designed for people who want a regular, rule-driven approach rather than constant screen time. Foromex reports that more than 25 investors have used Duke while working to recover earlier trading losses, and that many now run it with a steady monthly withdrawal routine.

Outcomes differ from account to account and month to month, and every trading account carries the risk of loss. You can see the full backtested figures, including drawdowns, on the results page.

The monthly withdrawal model

The run above compounds with nothing withdrawn. Most clients use Duke differently: profit is withdrawn each month and the account resets toward its starting balance. Below, each month is backtested independently on $100,000, with nothing carried over.

The $156,446 total and the $622,552 compounded figure come from the same strategy over the same period. The difference is whether profit stays in the account to compound or is withdrawn each month. Averages use the seven complete months. These are backtested, not live, results.

Risk and drawdown

Monthly balance and equity drawdown

Balance drawdown is the peak-to-trough fall based on closed trades only. Equity drawdown also counts open, unrealised positions, so it is the closer measure of what the account actually went through during the month.

10.84%Average monthly balance drawdown
16.98%Average monthly equity drawdown
34.84%Worst single-month equity drawdown (April)
120.68%Lowest monthly margin level (May)

Margin level is the lowest point reached during the month. It shows how close the account came to a broker-forced stop-out, which typically happens around the 50 to 100% region depending on the broker. Lower is more dangerous. April had both the highest profit and the highest equity drawdown. May's 120.68% was the tightest margin of any month. Drawdown and margin level varied significantly from month to month, and there is no reason to assume future months will stay inside this historical range.

The strategy

What Duke does

Duke is Foromex's flagship automated trading engine, developed in-house for MetaTrader 5. It trades exclusively on XAUUSD (gold CFD), combining trend and higher-timeframe confirmation with volatility-aware entry filters and rule-based position and risk management.

The results on this site come from a strategy-tester backtest, a simulation of how the current rule set would have performed against historical tick data. They are not a live, audited or third-party-verified trading record and are shown for illustration only.

Foromex describes its role as providing and operating the Duke software on behalf of account holders, for a fee. Foromex's position is that obligations relating to individual investors, including identity verification, anti-money-laundering checks and investor protections, sit with the regulated broker and the jurisdiction applicable to each client's account. This is Foromex's own description of its role and has not been independently confirmed.

How to work with Foromex

Services

Three ways to have Duke traded on your behalf. Foromex does not take custody of client funds under any of them. Capital stays in the client's own account, and Foromex is paid a fee only out of realised profit, never up front. A profit-only fee does not remove your exposure to loss: your capital is at risk in every structure below.

Managed execution

Run Duke on your own MT5 account

Duke is deployed on an MT5 account you hold with a broker that permits algorithmic trading. Foromex is compensated only when the account produces a net profit for the month.

Performance fee
50% of net monthly profit
Fee if no monthly profit
None charged
Who holds the funds
You, at your own broker
Custody of funds
Never held by Foromex

A profit-only fee does not offset or cap trading losses. In a month with a net loss no fee is charged, but the loss is borne in full by the account holder. Foromex never receives, holds or has withdrawal access to client capital under this arrangement.

Pooled allocation

Vantage PAMM allocation

Foromex holds a PAMM Manager account with Vantage. Vantage separately allows its own clients to open a PAMM Investor account and connect it to Foromex's manager account, trading Duke across the pooled, connected allocations. The investment agreement, onboarding and custody of funds sit entirely between the investor and Vantage. Foromex is not a party to that agreement and does not handle investor money directly.

Performance fee

Broker / venue
Vantage Markets (Pty) Ltd
Regulator
FSCA (South Africa), FSP 51268
Agreement and custody
Investor and Vantage only

Funds are held in the PAMM structure at Vantage, not by Foromex. PAMM allocation pools your capital with other investors' funds, carrying the trading risk of the strategy plus counterparty and broker risk, and is subject to Vantage's own PAMM terms.

Elevated risk tier

Drawdown-recovery allocation

For clients who have taken a prior trading loss and want a strategy aimed at recovering it more aggressively than standard allocation would. This tier trades Duke at higher risk intensity and typically requires a larger capital commitment relative to the loss involved, sized individually with each client.

Capital required
Assessed per client
Recovery timeframe
Not fixed or promised
Performance fee
Agreed per client, on realised profit only

Elevated risk cuts both ways: this tier can also lose the additional capital committed, faster than standard allocation. There is no guarantee, express or implied, that any prior loss is recovered in whole, in part, or within any timeframe. Foromex does not take custody of the client's capital.

Important information

Risk disclosure

Trading leveraged products such as gold CFDs carries a high level of risk and you can lose some or all of your capital. It may not be suitable for everyone.

  • All performance figures on this website are backtested and simulated using MetaTrader 5 historical data. They are not live, audited or independently verified results.
  • Backtests have inherent limitations. They do not account for every real-world factor, such as slippage, spread changes, requotes, execution delays and liquidity, and results with real money can differ materially.
  • Past and simulated performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Nothing here is a promise or guarantee of profit or of any return.
  • Drawdowns and margin levels shown vary widely by month, and future losses may exceed those in the backtest, including a forced stop-out of the account.
  • Fees are charged only on realised profit, but this does not limit or offset trading losses, which are borne by the account holder.
  • Foromex Ltd does not hold client funds. Brokers and PAMM providers are separate third parties with their own terms, regulation and risks.
  • This website is for information only. It is not investment advice or a personal recommendation. Consider seeking independent financial advice and make sure you understand the risks before trading.
